19th century Antique French Square Sofa Table Carved Oak Barley Twist Louis XIII.
Direct from France, a substantial and heavy antique French square side/sofa table, with impressive details.
Large hand carved edge top over the oversized, wide apron that features intricately hand carved Celtic and foliate designs.
Eight dimensionally carved lion masks on each of the corners, with a carved ogee band below. Note there is a hidden drawer in the apron on one side!
Heavy barley twist legs and barley twist cross stretchers, surmounted with a large carved center medallion.
The large barley twist legs terminate with block joints above oversized bun feet.
Well built by craftsmen of the period, circa1890.
